Who we are
Our website address is: https://thegtmguy.com. This site is operated by Zulfiqar A. Memon (“The GTM Guy”), an independent analytics and tag‑management consultancy. If you have any questions about this policy, you can reach us using the contact form on this site.
What we collect and why
Enquiry / contact form. When you submit an enquiry through a form on this site, we collect the information you provide — typically your name, email address, the service you’re interested in, and your message. We use this solely to respond to you and to manage the resulting business enquiry. These submissions are stored in our website’s admin area so we can follow up.
Marketing attribution. To understand which marketing channel or advertisement brought you to the site, we record non‑sensitive technical parameters present in the link you arrived from — such as campaign tags (UTM parameters) and advertising click identifiers from Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising, LinkedIn, Meta and similar platforms. This information is associated with your enquiry if you choose to contact us, so we can measure the effectiveness of our advertising.
Analytics and advertising measurement. We use Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager to understand how visitors use the site (pages viewed, interactions, approximate location and device). We also use conversion‑measurement tools provided by Google Ads, LinkedIn and Meta to measure the performance of our advertising. These services may set their own cookies and process data under their own privacy policies:
- Google (Analytics & Ads): https://policies.google.com/privacy
- LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/legal/privacy-policy
- Meta: https://www.facebook.com/privacy/policy
Where enquiries result from an advertisement, we may share a limited, hashed or identifier‑based conversion signal with these advertising platforms so they can attribute the conversion to the correct campaign. We do not sell your personal data.
Comments
If commenting is enabled and you leave a comment, we collect the data shown in the comment form, plus your IP address and browser user‑agent string, to help with spam detection. An anonymised string created from your email address (a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to check whether you use it; the Gravatar privacy policy is available at https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval, your profile picture is visible publicly alongside your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS), as visitors can download and extract that data from images on the website.
Cookies
If you submit an enquiry, we store a cookie on your device that records how you arrived at the site (the marketing attribution described above). This cookie lasts for up to 90 days and contains no sensitive personal information.
Our analytics and advertising partners (such as Google) set cookies to measure site usage and campaign performance.
If you leave a comment, you may opt in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies for your convenience; these last one year. If you visit or use our login page, WordPress sets temporary and session cookies for login and screen‑display preferences; login cookies last two days (two weeks if you select “Remember Me”), and editing an article stores a cookie indicating the post ID, which expires after one day.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles). Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly as if you had visited the other website, and those sites may collect data about you, set cookies, embed additional third‑party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content.
Client names, logos and trademarks
This website refers to organisations and displays logos belonging to companies and brands that Zulfiqar A. Memon has worked with, either directly or through agencies, during his career. These names, logos and trademarks are the property of their respective owners. They are used here solely to identify prior professional work for descriptive and portfolio purposes. Their use does not imply any current partnership, sponsorship or endorsement by those organisations. If you are a rights holder and would like a reference or logo removed, please contact us and we will promptly address your request.
Who we share your data with
We share data only as needed to operate the site and our business: our email/hosting providers, Google (analytics and advertising), and the advertising platforms listed above for conversion measurement. If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
How long we retain your data
Enquiry submissions and the associated marketing attribution are retained for as long as needed to manage the enquiry and our business relationship, and thereafter as required for administrative, legal or security purposes. If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely so follow‑up comments can be recognised and approved automatically. Registered users’ profile information is stored until the account is removed.
What rights you have over your data
If you have submitted an enquiry, left a comment, or hold an account on this site, you can request an exported copy of the personal data we hold about you, and you can ask us to erase it. This does not include data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal or security purposes. To make a request, contact us through the site.
Where your data is sent
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam‑detection service. Analytics and advertising data may be processed by our service providers, including in other countries, under their respective privacy policies.
Cookies & Consent
Your consent. When you first visit the site, we ask for your consent before setting any non‑essential cookies — including analytics and advertising cookies and the marketing‑attribution cookie described above. Cookies strictly necessary for the site to function are always active. You can accept or decline non‑essential cookies, and you can change your choice at any time by clearing your browser cookies or using the cookie settings link in the site footer. Until you consent, non‑essential tracking is not loaded.
